Tiredness

Hello everyone. :) I'm new to this tribe but not to the disease. Does anyone else feel too tired to get up in the morning? What do you do about it? I'm so careful about gluten, I don't think there is any in my diet. (I even check my toothpaste). I've had a really hard time trying to get my strength back and put on some muscle mass. It's been 3 years since I stopped eating gluten. Has anyone else here suffered a lot of complications from Celiac? If not then you're really lucky... it can be pretty bad if there's a lot of damage.

it takes a lot of time...

i don't have celiac disease...just a bit intolerant to wheat products...
but it still gets in the diet from time to time because i'm not as diligent as i should be.

a few years ago (before cancer), i had those times when i didn't get out of bed at all for days...i was depressed, but mostly because i was really tired and bones and muscles just ached like mad.

shear will got me out of bed. i've found a diet of mostly whole foods is the only way i can keep wheat out of the diet...thankfully, my fiance understands when he buys the groceries (i hate to shop, so he does it). things are much better now...but it took a long time.

I use B vitamins when I'm having really down days. One of the things about Celiac is that your body has a hard time absorbing vitamins and minerals because of the damage to the villii. Have you had your blood levels checked? Anemia is also very common. I tend to run really low on B and Potassium, both which help with energy (don't take potassium supplements without checking with your doctor!). The other possibility is additional intolerances like soy or corn, which can be very common, especially if you were a long time to diagnosis. I've also been on the diet for 3 years, and I still get problems with being tired, but mostly its because my body still doesn't absorb stuff the way it should. If you've checked all those things with your doctor, I'd try a b-complex with breakfast, and see if that helps.
